Djembe Masterclass for Beginners Volume 1

In this masterclass you will learn many foundational skills. First, the very basics: starting with tilting the djembe, then single strokes for the bass and slap.

All the excercises are first shown slowly, using many camera angles. In this course, there are also many of the simple, yet most important beats.

With mastering these rhythms, you will be able to play some of the coolest, most practical beats, which also happen to be excellent for playing together with other musicians.

Drum Set Beats with Djembe Volume 1

In this masterclass you will learn how different drum set beats are played with the djembe. The first of the two volumes shows mostly simpler beats, while some rhythms are more complex. All the lessons start with the drum set beat shown first, followed by the djembe drum version of that same beat.

The drum set, as well as the djembe drum, are both filmed using 3 cameras – that is 6 angles in total. After finishing this masterclass, you will be able to play many different beats with the djembe which are familiar in modern musical pop-culture.

Drum Set Beats with Djembe Volume 2

The second course of the two-part series continues where the last one left off. In this masterclass there are mostly more complex beats, while some rhythms are simpler. The natural flow of teaching remains – first the drum set beat, then the djembe version with a similar tempo, followed by a slow demonstration with the djembe.

This course includes many different finger strokes with both hands, since the beats are more nuanced. After finishing this masterclass, you will be able to play many complex beats with tricky illustrations giving the rhythms wonderful flavor.

Advanced Djembe Masterclass Volume 1

The first advanced masterclass includes many different finger strokes such as the thumb, index and ring finger. Some beats are played with more complex dynamics, meaning up to 4 layers of volume. Be ready to play at least as many double strokes as there are single strokes.

Since many of the rhythms are long patterns, the teachings are broken up into multiple slow parts at first. After finishing this masterclass, you will be able to play complicated patterns which translate into amazing detailed music.

What style are you teaching?

I’m teaching my own contemporary modern style of djembe playing. This is not traditional djembe education. However, in my experience, this modern approach is one of the best things to learn with this drum. I’ve played all over the world with countless other musicians, and the djembe path that I walk and teach is of absolutely amazing results.

How long does it take to become very good?

Obviously, this is very dependent on the openess and previous experience of the student. But roughly, a couple of months of learning and practicing will get you well-versed in the basic beats and rhythms.

Is it easy to cancel my membership?

Absolutely. If you feel like canceling, it’s one click away.
