Using Fingers with the Djembe Drum: Triplets
Share
I just shared my sneaky triplet techniques using fingers on the djembe—layers of patterns that unlock fast fills and wild variations in your beats.
We started simple: Left hand thumb stroke, followed by right hand's thumb-index duo. Then mirrored it—right hand thumb-index, left thumb slap motion. Cranked it up by combining: Left hand alternates index-thumb, with right hand tagging two strokes each time. Finally, my secret 3-3-2 sauce—left hand rolls index-thumb-thumb (repeat), right hand drops two finger hits after every left stroke. Drill it slow, then blast the tempo for that rolling fire.
These build hand equality, speed, and flair without lifting much. Own 'em, and your grooves transform.
