Playing to Ukulele with the Djembe Drum

Playing to Ukulele with the Djembe Drum

I just showed you exactly how I lock in the djembe with a ukulele—two vibes to keep things fresh in any jam.

First up: Fingerpicking on uke calls for the straight beat. I demoed three levels—basic (bass, quiets, loud slap), with doubles for groove, and spiced with fills like paradiddles or quiet rolls. Keeps it supportive without overwhelming.

Second: Strumming needs that two-bar magic—A bar (straight beat) into B bar (variations like extra basses or slaps). Mix A-B-A-B or A-A-A-B for builds—every second or fourth bar flips for interest.

Then I tied it all into a quick song demo to feel the flow.

The djembe course which helps you the most in this context is beginner's course and the bundle thereof.
